We always need volunteers! From pulling weeds to setting up for our monthly programs, if you have a little spare time, we need you. Please send an e-mail to email@example.com or just introduce yourself to one of the board members at our monthly meetings.
We review development projects throughout San Diego County to ensure that environmental rules and regulations concerning native plant habitats are followed. We have a team of volunteers that works to review environmental documents (such as EIRs and EISs), write comment letters, attend public hearings, or meet with public officials and resource managers. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
For volunteer native gardening opportunities please visit this page.
Please email email@example.com if interested. We work year round when weather conditions permit. Typically, we will send out an email each weekend for the following week. Each volunteer can then pick day(s) and time(s) that suits them. Lead trainers may be going out several days a week with different volunteer/trainees each day.
Volunteers work as often as they like and for as long as they like. Some will work twice a week or more. Others drop in once every other week. Some stay for years, others move on after a month. We recognize that individuals have different schedules and interest. All are welcome.
We have a small library that is available to members during our meetings. We need someone to oversee the library and check out books to members. Time commitment involves coming to our monthly meetings which are always on the 3rd of the month or finding someone to fill in if you can't make it. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
Help coordinate and set up the room for our monthly meetings which are held the 3rd Tuesday of every month (except for August). Duties include:
- Assisting with the refreshments for our monthly meetings and/or plant sales
- Welcoming members to the meeting and answering general questions at the meetings
- Helping to set up and clean up the meeting room
Please email email@example.com to help out.
Learn to grow your favorite natives in an easy and fun-filled hands on way. Join our work group for our monthly meetings. We usually work for 2 hours in Balboa Park. You will learn to start plants from seeds and cuttings. These plants are then sold at our fall plant sale and planted out in San Diego's open spaces. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and you will be put on a list to be notified of upcoming work days. It's usually a Tuesday, about monthly.
At our monthly meetings and plant sale we sell books to raise money for our chapter. We always need help at our sales table. Duties include: Take books, brochures, and other materials out of lockers and set up sales tables at each meeting. This means arriving about 6:00 pm or so (for a 7:00 pm meeting). After the meeting, replace the books in the lockers. For more information e-mail email@example.com
The San Diego chapter hosts 5 yearly special events including 2 workshops, 2 plant sales and a garden tour. You can read more about the events here. If you would like to become involved as a volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Anyone who would like to help survey is welcome to attend; the only prerequisites are an interest in preserving native habitat, attention to detail, and a patient attitude, as the surveys are quite detailed. If you have not done Rapid Assessment before, training will be provided on-site. You will be able to work with more experienced surveyors to see how the survey is done. Please contact email@example.com for more info or visit the Conservation page of our website.
