Oak Oasis is a little gem in East County that has scrub oak and manzanita chaparral, inland scrub and grassland, and a long stretch of oak woodland. The trail is an easy loop that overlooks San Vicente Reservoir about halfway into the 2.5 mile loop. Early October can be a crap shoot for hiking, so be aware of weather conditions possibly topping 90F (~33C) or the East County turning into a BBQ again (keep knocking on [unburnt] wood)...
