The California Native Plant Society-San Diego Chapter presents its 8th annual Garden Tour, The Artful California Native Gardens of East San Diego County, on Saturday, April 4, 9:00am-4:00pm. Spend the day exploring and learning from these gardens that illustrate habitat plants, dry streambed bioswales, adjacent natural areas, pool-to-pond conversions, water catchment devices, slope gardens, charming water features, bridges, sculptures and more. Enjoy meeting artists in many of the gardens who will be creating and selling their California native garden-themed artwork and crafts. Be inspired this Spring!

TOUR

This self-guided Tour of 11 private gardens will have interpretive docents, designers, and homeowners on hand; 5 additional FYI (Front Yard Inspiration) gardens for front yard viewing are listed in the Tour program book.

All participants buying online before March 29 will have a tour booklet mailed to their address in the week preceding the Tour and can begin the tour at any garden location during Tour weekend.

Mount Helix/La Mesa, Allied Gardens, Lakeside, Blossom Valley and other East County areas

There are 12 artists at various gardens throughout the Tour. Much of the art features California native plant-related themes.

Tickets & Info Garden

The WATER CONSERVATION GARDEN, 12122 Cuyamaca College Drive West, El Cajon, CA

On the day of the Tour, CNPS-San Diego will be selling garden tour tickets, books & seeds, and native plants from Moosa Creek Nursery. With a Tour ticket you will receive free admission to the Water Conservation Garden.

In addition the Garden will feature the following on Tour day:

  • Interpretive docents at the California native plant exhibits

  • Tree and shrub planting demonstrations

  • Butterfly pollinator talk

  • Art in the garden

On the Tour, plant species will be labeled so that you identify them. The labels will also have QR codes that will automatically take you to a full page description of the plant on the Plant Profiles section of our website.
