Field Trip Led by Dave Flietner and Paul Hormick. Meet on Juniper Street west of the canyon at the intersection with 33rd Street (TG 1289 E-1). Parking is along the street. Free and open to the public.
This field trip will focus on the common names of common natives, their uses, and ecological roles. It's a great way to learn the basics and appreciate the beauty we have in our own back yards. Typically a fairly short, easy walk and not a hike; but wear sturdy shoes and long pants just to be safe.

Propagation and Habitat Restoration at Border Field State Park
The
Tijuana Estuary is offering a unique opportunity to learn about
riparian plant propagation while restoring wildlife habitat. In the
final weeks before bird-nesting season, we really need your help to
improve this area. Volunteers will remove invasive vegetation while
small groups take turns working with the Reserve's Stewardship Coordinator
to learn about major riparian plants, take cuttings, and plant cuttings
at the restoration site. The entire community is invited - community
groups and families are welcome. Contact Volunteer Coordinator

the California Native Garden Foundation's series of classes on how to
Design, Build, and Maintain a California Native Garden yourself. These
classes will introduce you, the do-it-yourself home gardener, to creating
a sustainable, low-maintenance, and water conserving garden around your
home.

From I-15 exit Poway Rd east through town, turn right at Garden Rd (light); right at Sycamore Canyon Rd until it ends, at Goodan Ranch (TG 1191 C-6). Open to CNPS/ Friends of Goodan Ranch; applications for both will be available.
Mount Soledad 10 AM – Noon Learn about common native and invasive plants with Arne Johanson and Julie Kircher. Bring a friend! (TG 1227 J-7). Take SR-52 or I-5 to La Jolla Pkwy, left on Hidden Valley Rd, right on Via Capri, left on Soledad Rd, left into park and immediately left into first lot. Free and open to the public.

Join photographer and author Margaret Fillius on a visit to a less-traveled portion of our favorite State Park. San Diego sea-dahlia, warty-stemmed ceanothus, and Del Mar manzanita are likely to be in bloom. Directions: Exit I-5 at Carmel Valley Rd, turn right on Del Mar Scenic Way to the cul-de-sac (Thomas Guide 1207 H-1). No food is allowed in the Reserve, but beverages are OK. Bring Easter eggs or other snacks if you’d like to lunch at the beach afterwards. No admission charge. Members only; applications available day of hike.
Saturday, March 24, 2007 (CNPS Members Only Please) Anza Borrego Desert State Park 9 AM - 5 PM vehicles to carry all, we will drive into some otherwise inaccessible sites. We will meet in two locations: For those in western San Diego County meet at Ted Williams Pkwy Park and Ride (TG 1169 J-3) at 9:00 a.m. Exit I-15 east onto SR-56 (Ted Williams Pkwy), turn left immediately onto Rancho Carmel Drive, go north one block to the Park and Ride. For east County, meet at the Pacific Crest Trail parking lot at Scissors Crossing (Hwy 78 east to Santa Ysabel, north on Hwy-79, east on S-2, then left (east again) on S-22 several miles and meet at the parking lot of the Pacific Crest Trail where it crosses S-22 at 10:15 a.m. Bring lunch, several quarts of water, sun protection, and good walking shoes. Some locations may entail short bouts of challenging hiking, but there will be plenty of great spots for all levels of physical condition. CNPS members only please. Saturday, March 24, 2007 10 AM – Noon Meet at the intersection of San Dieguito Dr. and Racetrack View Dr. (TG 1187 G-4). Exit I-5 at Via De La Valle, go west, turn left on Jimmy Durante Blvd., take first left (0.8 mi.) onto San Dieguito Dr., continue1/2 mile to where the road forks at Racetrack View Dr. Arne and Julie lead.
Switzer Canyon (Public Welcome) Saturday, March 17, 2007 10 AM – Noon Meet at the canyon entrance on the corner of 28th and Maple (TG 1269 D-7). From University Ave., following 28th south all the way to the end (at Maple). From the south, take Pershing Drive or 30th Street north to Redwood, take Redwood to 28th, turn south along the east side of Balboa Park to the end. Parking is on the street. Daniel and Wes lead.
